The Subic Regatta which coincides with the biannual Rolex China Sea Race is anticipated to attract a vibrant mix of local and international sailors particularly those participating in the 565 nautical mile race from Hong Kong to Subic Bay. It's going to be a blast from the past! We're bringing back the buzz of the Asian Yachting Grand Prix Series that we all missed since its last run in Subic Bay back in 2019 during the inaugural Chairman's Cup Regatta.

And now, five years later, Subic Bay is all set to make a splash again, and the BPI Subic Bay Regatta is leading the charge. We're talking about reclaiming our spot as the go-to place for yacht racing in the region and giving a hat-tip to our glory days in the Asian Yachting Grand Prix (AYGP). It's all about gathering the best of the best from the Asian sailing scene — from China to the Philippines — and stitching together a tapestry of top-notch sailing action and international friendship.

The AYGP is renowned for its aggregation of top-tier regattas from the vast Asian seascape—encompassing China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines—creating an unparalleled spectacle of sailing excellence and fostering bonds of international fellowship.

In this spirit of revival and remembrance, we also pay tribute to Captain Marty Rijkuris, the visionary behind the AYGP Series, whose indelible mark on the sport extended far beyond the horizon. Captain Marty was a true pioneer, who put the Philippines in the global yacht racing arena. Our collaboration with him, which spanned from 2008 until his untimely departure in late 2019, was a journey of shared dreams and aspirations. His absence has been profoundly felt, leaving an irreplaceable void in the heart of the yachting world.

This year's BPI Subic Bay Regatta is more than just a race — but a rallying point, a collective resolve to navigate through uncharted waters with the same pioneering spirit that Captain Marty exemplified.

So, as we watch the sails rise and the boats cut through the waves of Subic Bay once again, we're filled with a mix of nostalgia and excitement. The BPI Subic Bay Regatta stands as a testament to endurance, a beacon for the future, and a salute to Captain Marty, whose story is forever woven into the very winds that propel our sails.
